The Presidio of San Francisco

This portfolio is a collection of photographs from a recent UC Berkeley Extension workshop (Summer, 2003). The Presidio is a rich area to photograph. It provides several distinct locales and climates, a large variety of architectural types and a history that spans over 150 years.

I decided to explore the Presidio in a variety of different ways for this project:

• The grand views of the Presidio, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point, the Main Post and Crissy field.
• The fascinating interiors and exteriors of the many old buildings that carry so much of the history of the area.
• The large variety of plant and animal life.
• And finally, at night. The views are often transformed from something plain and ordinary to something alive with movement ,offbeat colors and shapes.

All of the images in this portfolio are digital, from the camera to the print. Most have only had a minimal amount of manipulation in Photoshop (minor color adjustments, a little image sharpening and possibly some contrast adjustments).
